Mr. Fisher, 56, will become international director for the B'nai B'rith Youth Organ- ization — headquartered in Washington — the agency for which he worked before moving to Detroit from Israel in 1987. Mr. Fisher begins his new position in September. BBYO is the largest inter- national youth organization in the world with 30,000 high school-aged girls and boys in chapters in the United States, Canada, Great Britain, Europe, Israel, South Africa and Australia. Mr. Fisher replaces Dr. Sidney Clearfield, who was promoted to the top position of executive vice president of B'nai B'rith International after serving in the interna- tional directorship for 10 years. "B'nai B'rith is indeed for- tunate to get such a man who has outstanding experi- ence in dealing with Jewish young people," Dr. Clear- field said. "He is a welcome addition to our staff." Robinson has been named recipient of the Fred M. Butzel Memorial Award for Distinguished Communi- ty Service by the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit. For 40 years, the award has recognized outstanding volunteer service to both the Jewish community and the Detroit community at large. It is named for the late Jewish leader and attorney Fred M. Butzel, who devoted his life to serving the under- privileged of Detroit. The award will be presented at the Federation annual meeting Sept. 26 at Adat Shalom Synagogue. Chairman of the 1984 Allied Jewish Campaign, Mr. Robinson is a vice president of United Jewish Charities and past vice president of Federa- tion. He also was a founding board member and president of Jewish Federation Apartments. He serves on the boards of many humanitarian, civic and arts groups, including Weizmann Institute of Science, Friends of Hebrew University, Holocaust Memorial Center, Wayne State University Center for Judaic Studies, Community Foundation of Southeastern Michigan, the Children's Jack Robinson: Butzel honoree. Trust Fund of Michigan, Detroit Symphony Orchestra Hall, Harper/Grace Hospital and the Food Bank of Oakland County. In addition, he is a member of the NAACP and the Detroit Roundtable of Christians, Jews and Muslims. A past chairman of the Wayne State University Fund, Mr. Robinson is chair- man of the board of Concern- ed Citizens for the Arts of Michigan and vice president of United Way for Southeast- ern Michigan.
