Fight Gag Rule

The Michigan branch, P'TACH of
Michigan, Inc., was founded in May of
1979 by a group of parents, lay people and
professionals in fields related to special
education. Our main objective is to provide
special education for learning disabled
children with the goal of mainstreaming
them into regular classrooms whenever
possible. Today, P'TACH has grown to
serve over twenty children in its two
programs. Unfortunately, due to a lack of
financial resources, children are currently
on a waiting list to enter P'TACH's
programs.

Parents for Torah for All Children.
"P'TACH," is a national non-profit
organization which provides secular and
Jewish education for children with learning
disabilities who are enrolled in our schools.
Before P'TACH existed, the doors of
almost all day schools were indeed closed
to children with all levels of learning
disabilities, and the parents of these special
children were often frustrated by a
community that failed to recognize the need
for providing special educational programs
in our schools. Now, through P'TACH, the
doors of our schools are "OPEN" to all
our children.

WHAT IS P'TACH?

Washington (JTA) — Jew-
ish groups joined an
ecumenical coalition of abor-
tion rights forces on Capitol
Hill to lobby for swift adop-
tion of legislation that would
overturn a regulation barr-
ing federally funded clinics
from advising women about
abortion options.
The U.S. Supreme Court
recently upheld the constitu-
tionality of the federal
regulation, prompting oppo-
nents to seek a legislative
remedy.
The Senate approved a bill
barring enforcement of the
1988 regulation. The House
of Representatives took
similar action earlier this
month, but the language
was included in a completely
unrelated bill, complicating
reconciliation of the two ver-
sions.
Ann Lewis, chairwoman of
the American Jewish Con-
gress Commission on Wo-
men's Equality, said she and
fellow activists lobbied sena-
tors to approve the language
as part of a 1992 bill.

What Is A Chemical Peel?
Chemical peel is a surgical procedure in
which certain chemical agents are applied
to skin that is wrinkled, scarred or other-
wise damaged. A solution, applied to the
skin, causes it to form blisters and event-
ually peel, leaving a smoother surface.
There are two types of chemical peel
techniques: one is a light peel used to
remove superficial wrinkles, the other,
a deep peel, using phenol which is often
indicated for more severe conditions.

What Can Be Expected
Following Surgery?

The procedure lasts from 20 to 90 min-
utes depending upon whether it is a light
or deep peel. Within a few days of the pro-
cedure, the healing process begins as the
affected areas start to crust.

and wrinkling ranges from 75% to 85%
and, although 100% improvement is not
possible, most patients view with the
results as dramatic.
