Taste Of History
Greenfield Village will host
a special weekend event "A
Taste of History" July 27-28.
American life will be ex-
plored by the demonstrating
and sampling of two centuries
worth of culinary artistry.
Visitors can feast their eyes
on traditional American
favorites including sausages,
soups and baked goods at
cooking demonstrations
throughout the village . . .
then savor those flavors by
purchasing samples from
special village food stalls.
Food's influence on culture
also will be demonstrated in
song, and visitors can munch
along to tunes that celebrate
everything from soup to nuts.
Historian Jan Longone will
discuss the history of
American recipes and
cookbooks. Visitors also will
be invited to speak up about
the best cook in their family
and share reminiscences
about food-oriented family
gatherings.
Admission to "A Taste of
History" and all special
weekend programs will be
free with Greenfield Village
admission. Village hours are
9 a.m.-5 p.m. daily.
