Ethiopians Protest
Hotel Lodgings
Jerusalem (JTA) — A
group of recently-arrived
immigrants from Ethiopia,
unhappy with hotel living,
staged a protest march
demanding to be returned to
the mobile homes near the
Negev town of Netivot
where they were originally
quartered.
It was the first sign of re-
bellion among the usually
placid Ethiopian olim, but
officials of the Jewish Agen-
cy for Israel said it was
bound to happen sooner or
later.
The 39 Ethiopians, who
came to Israel in the Opera-
tion Solomon airlift of May
24-25, were transferred a
month ago to the hotel at
Two Arabs Stab
Factory Owner
Jerusalem (JTA) — A 59-
year-old Petach Tikva fac-
tory owner was severely
wounded by two Arabs who
stabbed him at his plant
after hours last week.
Avraham Caldero was re-
ported in stable condition
after surgery for removal of
an injured kidney. He sus-
tained multiple stab wounds
all over his body.
The assailants, identified
as former employees of
Caldero's plastics products
plant, were arrested after
they were found hiding in a
junk pile near the factory.
Both are residents of
Tulkarm in the West Bank,
in their early 20s.

According to police, Mr.
Caldero was alone in the
empty factory when the two
men, whom he reportedly
knew, approached and asked
for work. He turned them
down and they attacked him.
The police believe,
however, that the motive
was nationalistic rather
than personal. Stabbings of
Jews by Arabs in Israel
proper, as well as in the ad-
ministered territories, have
become one of the most
troubling aspects of the in-
tifada in the past year.
PLO Is Losing
Control In Lebanon
Tel Aviv (JTA) — The
Lebanese regular army con-
tinued to consolidate its con-
trol of southern Lebanon,
moving troops and tanks
Wednesday into the port
town of Tyre with no
resistance from the
Palestine Liberation Organ-
ization.
Two large Palestinian
refugee camps in the area
were encircled by the troops,
whose announced mission is
to disarm local guerrilla
groups.
Reports from Lebanon said
the PLO was turning its
heavy weapons over to the
Lebanese army as a "gift"
on orders from PLO chief
Yasir Arafat in Tunis. The
