he 1991 West Bloom-
field Sidewalk Sale
will be held on Thurs-
day, July 11, through Sun-
day, July 14, with more than
100 retail merchants par-
ticipating. The annual event
is sponsored by the West
Bloomfield Chamber of
Commerce.
The three local business
co-chairs of the event are
Jeff Cauley of Jack Cauley
Chevrolet, John Darin Jr.,
vice president of English
Gardens and Kathy Price,
manager of Orchard Mall.
"Mostly all the malls and
strip centers are included in
the event," said Mr. Darin.
The Chamber will host an
"After Hours Mixer" on
Thursday, July 11, from
5:30-7:30 p.m. at Crosswinds
Mall, located on Orchard
Lake Rd. and Lone Pine Rd.
to kick off the Sidewalk Sale.
Hors d'ouevres are provided
by Manuel's Restaurant,
located in the mall. The
mixer, with a cash bar, is
open to the public. The ad-
mission fee is $5.00 for
chamber members and $7.00
for non-members.
Orchard Mall will host the
Mask Puppet Theatre per-
formance of The Monster
That Ate Your Garden on
Thursday, July 11, at 7 p.m.;
and on Saturday, July 13,
Jacobson's World Magic
Show will perform at 1 p.m.
The Orchard Mall will pro-
vide free popcorn and helium
filled balloons throughout
the four day sale.
Another unique celebra-
tion will be the "Chalk It
Up" event at the Sugar Tree
Shopping Center on Thurs-
day and Friday mornings,
July 11 and 12, for children
ages 5 to 10. This free art
contest is being cosponsored
by the West Bloomfield
Parks and Recreation Com-
mission. All chalk drawings
must represent a summer
scene, a cartoon or a
patriotic illustration. A
preview sketch must be
shown before the start of the
event. The Sugar Tree Shop-
ping Center will provide free
refreshments and prizes.
Advance registration is
needed. Interested par-
ticipants can call 334-5660.
According to Mr. Darin,
"Our goal is to help promote
the retailers in West Bloom-
field as a great place to shop,
and there are plenty of
bargains at the Sidewalk
Sale." ❑
