Meadow Brook
Hosts Boston Pops

The Boston Pops Esplanade
Orchestra, led by British con-
ductor Harry Rabinowitz, will
perform at the Meadow Brook
Music Festival 8 p.m. July 30.
The concert, which is spon-
sored locally by the Cadillac
Motor Car Division, is part of
a ten-city national summer
tour that includes perfor-
mances at major American
music festivals, July 26-Aug.
8. MCI is the corporate spon-
sor of the Boston Pops
Esplanade Orchestra 1991
National Tour.
The program will highlight
music from the Broadway
stage, including a tribute to
Leonard Bernstein featuring
selections from West Side
Story and On the Town, and a
trilogy of songs from Andrew
Lloyd Webber's Cats and
Evita. Also featured will be
works by Boston Pops Con-
ductor John Williams.
Mr. Rabinowitz also will
conduct two popular light
classical works: Offenbach's

Overture to Orpheus in the
Underworld and Chabrier's
Espana Rhapsody; the theme

from his score for the PBS
series Reilly, Ace of Spies; a
medley of Beatles tunes; and
Gershwin's "Strike Up the
Band?'

Attic Theatre
Ends Season

Conversations with an Irish
Rascal, the final production of

the Attic Theatre's 1990-91
season, will preview July
11-14. Opening night is July
17. The play runs through
Aug. 11.
A musical biography by
Kathleen Kennedy, Irish
Rascal is a selection of Bren-
dan Behan's own words taken
from his books, poems and
plays.
Performances will be
Wednesdays at 7 p.m.;
Thursdays and Fridays at 8
p.m.; Saturdays at 5 and 9
p.m.; and Sundays at 2 and 7
p.m.
