I NEWS Israel Sets Pace On S. Africa > ;-= Jerusalem (JTA) — Israel will follow its own timetable with respect to normalizing relations with South Africa as that country dismantles the structures of apartheid, it was reported by the Israeli daily Ha'aretz. Israel plans to gradually lift sanctions, but will visibly coordinate its policies with the United States on that matter, said Ha'aretz, which added that the deci- sions will be made by the Foreign Ministry and then, presumably, by the entire Cabinet. According to the news- paper, Israel is reconsider- ing its participation in U.N.-mandated restrictions on trade with South Africa. But it is keeping a close wat- ch on the U.S. government and on public reaction in the United States to the latest South African moves. The Pretoria government announced repeal of the 1950 Populations Registra- tion Act, the core of the apartheid system, which classified all South Africans by race from birth. Ha'aretz said diplomatic contacts have begun with respect to a state visit to Israel by South African President F.W. de Kierk in three to four months. Argentina Bans Neo-Nazi Group c. E New York (JTA) — Argen- tine President Carlos Menem, supported by his en- tire Cabinet, has forbade an assemblage of neo-Nazis that had been called to take place in front of the National Congress, the Latin Ameri- can Jewish Congress re- ported. Mr. Menem instructed the Argentine interior minister to prohibit the gathering of the Nationalist Workers' Party, which was to have in- cluded a pledge of allegiance to an Argentine flag with a swastika in its center, the Argentine Embassy in Washington confirmed. In addition to the presi- dent's rejection of the group's plans, three mem- bers of the Argentine Parliament, representing the country's three main po- litical parties, introduced draft legislation in the Na- tional Congress prohibiting the parade. They said such a gathering would spread "ideas identified with death, racism and intolerance." Dr. Eduardo Phillips, M.D. is pleased to announce the association of Dr. William L.
