A course entitled "Jewish
Civil Law" will be offered at
the Wayne State University
law school during the
semester beginning Aug. 29.
The course will meet Thurs-
day evenings 6:10-8 p.m. The
instructor will be Shlomo
Sperka, an adjunct professor
at the law school.
This two-credit law school
course also is open to students
of other law schools. Students
outside the law school and the
general public may register
on a non-credit basis.
The course will survey
Jewish law (Halachah) as a
legal system, examining fun-
damental concepts, the struc-
ture of Jewish law and its
sources. The course will cover
contemporary topics such as
bio-ethics and law in the state
of Israel.
