Kirshner had performed the
brit milah, or covenant of
ritual circumcision, upon all
four of his sons, in accordance
with the biblical precept that
Abraham had circumcised his
own son Isaac . . . He then of-
ficiated at the bar mitzvah of
each of his sons and united
his two older sons and their
wives into marriage.
Rabbi Kirshner had the
wonderful honor of bringing
his first grandson, Jacob
Aaron Kirshner, son of Elliott
and Connie Kirshner, into the
"Covenant of Abraham," as
he fulfilled the command-
ment of ritual circumcision on
little Jacob Aaron in Tarpon
Springs, Fla. . . . Their oldest
son, Gabriel Kirshner, a rab-
binical student in New York
and student rabbi in Nutley,
N.J., served as the sandek .. .
or the one who holds the baby
during the ceremony.
WHEN HE called and said,
"This is a voice out of your
past," I was hardly in the
mood for guessing games .. .
And when he finally said,
"Kurt Bromay," I still didn't
know who it was . . . not with
that name . . . and no accent
. . . Then it dawned on me .. .
Kurt Bromet . . . That name
goes back to the '50s when
Kurt and Maynard Patler had
Bel-Aire Products, then the
leading home improvement
company around.
How could I recognize Kurt
without the accent? . . . And
certainly the Bromay threw
me off . . . He was in town
from California on a sad note
. . . Kurt's older brother,
David, had passed on . . . but
thoughtfully, he remembered
to call.
Kurt always did have a lot
on the ball . . . and became
highly successful in real
estate after leaving here and
going to the West Coast.
CONGRATS to Fae Hellen
. . . on her 86th birthday .. .
celebrated with family and
friends at Mountain Jack's of
Southfield on Greenfield.
IF YOU ENJOYED "Jazz
Is" at the Attic Theatre,
Grand Boulevard and Third,
you'll really go for "Jazz Is .. .
Too," a musical trip through
the history of jazz from World
War II to the present, this
weekend, today through
Sunday.
CONGRATS . . . to Jack
and Marian Rose . . . on their
50th anniversary.
PERCY KAPLAN tells of
a friend seeing this on the
bulletin board of the city in
which he lives . . . "The
eighth-graders will present
Shakespeare's Hamlet in
Hebrew in the Social Hall
Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The en-
tire school is invited to
witness this tragedy." ❑
