ub Scout Pack 1579 had a banner first year, enrolling 45
Jewish boys in five dens. The pack meets every Wednesday
evening at Congregation Beth Achim and, while activities
will slow for summer vacation, it still plans a few cookouts and
fund-raising activities during July and August.
Members of the pack include Orthodox, Conservative and Reform
Jews. Assistant Scoutmaster Les Kannon says activities are like
any other Cub Scout pack, "with the obvious exception that we
are careful about kashrut and Jewish holidays."
In the fall, Cheryl Reid will continue as Cub Scoutmaster, while
Mr. Kannon will assist her and form a new Jewish Boy Scout troop.
