Dance Programs
At Meadow Brook
The Detroit Symphony Or-
chestra announced the
dancers for its two dance pro-
grams in the final week of
DSO concerts at the 1991
Meadow Brook Music Festi-
val. Dancers will include
Evelyn Cisneros from the San
Francisco Ballet, and Judith
Fugate, Kyra Nichols, Lind-
say Fischer and Philip Neal of
the New York City Ballet.
Part of the DSO's 1991
Chrysler Concert Series, the
two performances will take
place 8 p.m. Aug. 9 and 11 at
the Baldwin Pavilion on the
campus of Oakland Universi-
ty. Both performances will be
led by DSO associate conduc-
tor Leslie B. Dunner and both
will be followed by fireworks.
DSO associate conductor
Leslie B. Dunner, will make
his Meadow Brook debut
leading the orchestra in these
two programs which will also
contain several orchestral
works.

Southfield Library
Has Writer Series
The Uptown Writers Series
will be sponsored by the
Poetry Resource Center and
the Southfield Public Library.
Readings by three local
writers will take place on
Thursdays from 7:30-9 p.m. in
the Marcotte Room of the
Library.

July 18 — Brenda Flana-
gan, Ann Arbor. Ms. Flana-
gan's first novel, You Alone
Are Dancing, was published
by Peepal Free Press. She has
won Hopwood Awards for both
fiction and drama and has
published short fiction.
August 8 — Gay Rubin,
Bloomfield Hills. Ms. Rubin
has a forthcoming book from
Ridgeway Press.
August 29 — Lorene
Erickson, Livonia poet and
fiction.
There is no admission
charge and registration is not
required. Refreshments will
be served.
Music Students
Plan Recital
Betty Kowalsky Stasson
and Jerome Stasson will pre-
sent their students in a piano
and violin recital 8 p.m. June
17 at the Birmingham Com-
munity House.
The public is invited. There
