Dr. Franklin Solway

Daniel L. Stern, 68

Dr. Franklin David Solway,
69, of Southfield, died June
11.
Dr. Solway was a practicing
dentist for 38 years. He was
past president of Alpha
Omega Dental Fraternity,
past president of Northern
Detroit Dental Society, past
president of the Canadian
Jewish War Veterans of Wind-
sor and member of Congrega-
tion Beth Shalom.
He is survived by his wife,
Jeanette; sons and daughter-
in-law, Dr. Jeffrey and Dr.
Vicki of West Bloomfield, Dr.
Mark and Stuart of South-
field; daughters and sons-in-
law, Cindy and David Pinto of
Arlington, Texas, Pam and
Michael Friedman of West
Bloomfield; brothers and
sisters-in-law, Jack and Merle
of Bloomfield Hills, Dr. Paul
and Etta of Birmingham;
sister and brother-in-law,
Ethel and Nathan Sieman of
Warren, Ohio; six grand-
children.

Daniel L. Stern, 68, of
Madiera Beach, Fla., former-
ly of Michigan, died June 2.
Mr. Stern worked in sales
and consulting with the fac-
tory branch of International
Harvester for 35 years. Dur-
ing World War II, he served in
the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his wife,
Bette; sons and daughters-in-
law, Gregg and Ellen, Jeffrey
and Lucie; daughters and
sons-in-law, Pamela and Jack
Green, Cyndi and Randall
Bond; brothers and sisters-in-
law, Jerome and Thelma,
Larry Sarabel, Bernard;
sisters and brothers-in-law,
Mary and Gerald Weiner, Ida
and Julius Pomerantz; six
grandchildren.

Sylvia Alpert, 75

Sylvia Alpert, 75, of Farm-
ington Hills, died June 9.
Mrs. Alpert was the founder
and owner of Sylvia's
Fashions in Southfield and
West Bloomfield. She was a
pioneer in discount ladies ap-
parel and had been in
business since 1968.
Mrs. Alpert was a member
of B'nai B'rith Women, Tem-
ple Israel Singles Extension
and Michigan Women's Ap-
parel Association.
She leaves her sons and
daughters-in-law, Fred and
Donna of Farmington Hills,
Gary and Jan of West Bloom-
field, Joel and Gail of West
Bloomfield; six grand-
children.

Joseph Glicker, 81

Joseph Glicker, 81, of
Winter Park, Fla., formerly of
Detroit, died June 7.
Mr. Glicker, who owned and
operated the McNichols
Cleaning and Laundry for 30
years, was born in Pietikov,
Poland. He and his brother
raised themselves in Detroit,
where Mr. Glicker turned to
rum running during the
1920s. He enjoyed baseball,
football and opera.
He is survived by his wife,
Genevieve; daughters and
sons-in-law, Myrna and
Richard; Ronna and Dale
Stanley; son, Michael;
brother and sister-in-law, Ben
and Shirley; six grand-
children; four great-grand
children.

Minnie Levitt, 75

Minnie Levitt, 75, of
Southfield, died June 7.
Mrs. Levitt was a member
of Hadassah, Infant Service
Group, a former worker on
Meals on Wheels program of
NCJW, Women's American
ORT and the sisterhood of
Congregation Beth Achim.
She leaves her husband,
Julius; son and daughter-in-
law, David and Barbara of
Chevy Chase, Md.; daughter
and son-in-law, Linda and
Lewis Zemsky of Westfield,
N.J.; brother and sister-in-
law, Harold and Molly Haas
of West Bloomfield; sister and
brother-in-law, Margie and
Morris Samuels of Southfield;
four grandchildren.

Helen Brown, 82

Helen Brown, 82, of West
Bloomfield, died June 8.
Mrs. Brown was a medical
transcriber for Providence
Hospital and a member of
Women's American ORT.
She leaves her son and
daughter-in-law, Dr. Robert
and Beverly of West Bloom-
field; daughter, Marilyn
Bruseloff of Bloomfield Hills;
brothers and sister-in-law,
Benjamin Storch, Harry and
June Storch; eight grand-
children; one great-grandson.
