devastation the Gulf war
brought and they've had
enough," he said. "They
know the next war will be
even worse and they want no
part of it. These are the peo-
ple we need to reach."
Dr. Rosenblum said this is
why Americans for Peace
Now are galvanizing to
reach this population. They
want to allay the fears of
Jews who are concerned
about Israeli security.
He said that in the future,
the major security threats to
Israel aren't going to come
from an independent Pales-
tinian state. They are more
likely to come from hostile
forces using Jordan as a base
for aggression, or from more
effective, "smarter" missiles
and from chemical,
biological and possibly

For Organizations

In an effort to provide
space for all upcoming
local events, The Jewish
News has not always had
space for post-event
photographs. We would
like to renew our efforts
in this area and en-
courage Jewish organiza-
tions to send in
photographs of their
major events.
However, these post-
event photos will appear
only on a space-available
basis. Photographs con-
taining more than 5 per-
sons do not reproduce well
and are less likely to be
published. For accuracy's
sake, we ask that all

enough housing, their
numbers are increasing, and
more and more see them-
selves as being stuck in
Israel and wishing they
could leave," he said.
"They're also afraid."
Dr. Rosenblum said Arab
nations must rescind terror-
ism and the United States
should take an even more
aggressive role in bringing
Israel and its Arab
neighbors around the peace
table.
"We need an open, con-
crete policy," he said.
"Israeli public opinion
cannot be mobilized when
it's kept in the dark."
