Needs Volunteers

The Sinai Hospital Guild
will mark the 15th anniver-
sary of the Service With Love
program.
Service With Love, a
volunteer community out-
reach program of the Guild,
offers lonely, handicapped
and sometimes homebound
persons a daily, friendly
telephone call of reassurance.
The Guild is Sinai's auxiliary
organization which oversees
volunteer operations at the
hospital.
The five-minute telephone
calls generally offset the most
acute problem of aging and
being homebound — the fear
of being incapacitated or dy-
ing unseen. Doctors,
hospitals, social agencies, and
clergy refer potential senior
clients to the program. All
persons are considered eligi-
ble for the program; there are
no limits related to age, race,
religion, marital status, liv-
ing situation, health or finan-
cial need.
Service With Love can use
volunteers and community
organizations from which to
make daily calls to clients.

Spain Mission
Is Meeting Topic

The Jewish Welfare Federa-
tion will sponsor an informa-
tional meeting about the Mis-
sion to Spain and Israel 5:30
p.m. June 10 at the home of
David and Doreen Hermelin.
The Oct. 3-13 mission, in
commemoration of the 500th
anniversary of the explusion
from Spain, is for contributors
of $2,500 and over to the 1992
Allied Jewish Campaign.
Participants will explore
the aft, poetry and music of
Spain's once-vibrant Jewish
community and visit the bir-
thplaces of renowned Jewish
scholars.
In Israel, mission-goers will
hear about Operation Exodus
from new Soviet arrivals and
visit absorption centers for
Ethiopian and Soviet
immigrants.
Cost of the mission includes
accommodations at five-star
hotels, roundtrip airfare from
New York and most meals.
Leading the mission will be
Lawrence Jackier and Nor-
man Pappas, chairmen of the
Campaign.
