THE JEWISH NEWS
Allan Glassman
Opera Stars At
Weisberg Concert
Metropolitan Opera stars
Atarah Hazzan, dramatic
soprano, and tenor Allan
Glassman will appear in con-
cert 7:30 p.m. June 10 at Con-
gregation Shaarey Zedek.
The annual Peter and Clara
Weisberg concerts present a
selection of Jewish music and
musicians to the congrega-
tion and the community. This
year, the 12th annual Weis-
berg Concert will feature
Atarah Hazzan, who has sung
with opera companies
throughout the United States
and Europe. She is a graduate
of the Juilliard School of
Music, and has a repertoire of
more than fifty operas. Her
song recitals range from ear-
ly Italian and Baroque to
Broadway musicals and
modern cabaret.
Allan Glassman stepped on-
to the stage of the
Metropolitan Opera to fill in
for an ailing Ermanno Mauro
in . a National Radio Broad-
cast performance. He has
sung the role of Pinkerton in
Madame Butterfly, as well as
other major roles.
Miss Hazzan will perform
the aria "Bel Di" from Puc-
cini's Madame Butterfly. Mr.
Glassman will join Hazzan in
a duet and will sing solo selec-
tions from this opera. He also
will sing "The Impossible
Dream" from Man of La
Mancha.
General admission is free.
