Arab States Ease Boycott Jerusalem (JTA) — There are now strong indications that key Arab states may be ready to ease the 43-year-old economic boycott of Israel and of foreign firms doing business with the Jewish state, according to well- placed Israeli trade officials. A senior official at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry confirmed reports from Kuwait that the coun- try is edging away from the boycott and is urging other Persian Gulf states, in- cluding Saudi Arabia, to re- view their positions. Reuters news agency quoted a ranking Kuwaiti official as saying in effect that it is Kuwait's political duty toward the United States, in the aftermath of the Persian Gulf war, to re- v examine its position on the boycott. In New York, the U.S. en- voy to the United Nations, Thomas Pickering, told American Jewish organiza- tional leaders last month that there were indications that Kuwait was waiving boycott restrictions on U.S. firms seeking contracts for reconstruction work in Kuwait. Terrorists Killed In Air Raid Tel Aviv (JTA) - An Israeli air raid on a terrorist base near Tyre is believed to have killed several high-ranking terrorists, according to sources in southern Leb- anon. Eight were described as of- ficials of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a terrorist organ- ization headed by Nayef Hawatmeh. Four were senior officers of the pro- Syrian Amal militia. They had assembled for a joint meeting of the two groups, the sources said. The air attack put the Lebanese regular army on the alert and interfered with arrangements for a planned Lebanon peace parade, ac- cording to the Lebanese Defense Ministry in Beirut. Meanwhile, four members of a prominent Shi'ite family were killed in the southern Lebanon security zone by land mines apparently in- tended for the Israeli-backed South Lebanon Army. The pro-Iranian funda- mentalist Hezbollah, or Par- ty of God, stopped claiming credit for the blasts after the victims were identified. Trade-In your current phone for the new OKI HandHeld...
