Yale Levin was elected
president of Congregation
Shaarey Zedek at its 130th
annual meeting. His election
comes after serving the con-
gregation for the past five
years as a board member and
officer, as well as on many
synagogue committees. He
also serves on the Shaarey
Zedek endowment board and
as a trustee of the Clover Hill
Park Cemetery.
Mr. Levin is a trustee of the
Detroit Science Center, a
Henry Ford Hospital Hospice
board member and a former
member of the hospital's
board of trustees. He has
recently been elected chair-
man of the Alumni Advisory
Board to the dean of the
business school of Michigan
State University. In addition,
he has served on the boards
and committees of the Jewish
Welfare Federation, the
Jewish Community Council,
the Jewish Community
Center, Hillel Day School,
Junior Achievement and
B'nai B'rith.
Elected with Mr. Levin
were Wallace M. Handler,
first vice president; Dr.
Richard M. Brown, second
vice president; Alan S.
Schwartz, treasurer; and Dot-
tie Wagner, secretary. Newly-
elected board members are
Joel Bruss, Harvey Hortick,
Ellen Labes, Dr. Gerald
Laker, Dr. Alden Leib, Anita
Millman, Faye Ullmann and
Steven Weisberg.

Temple Honors
Dottie Dressler

At 8:15 p.m. services today,
Temple Emanu-El will honor
its director of education, Dot-
tie Dressler.
Active at the temple for the
past three years, Ms. Dressler
will leave her position in
June. She plans to serve on
the temple's 40th anniversary
Torah project and will be the

Temple Kol Ami will
celebrate its 25th anniversary
May 31-June 2 at the temple.
The festivities will begin with
a creative service conducted
by temple members. Albert
Vorspan, senior vice president
of the UAHC and author, will
speak. An Oneg Shabbat will
be given.
On June 1 there will be a
Chevrat Torah study session
and a special Saturday ser-
vice. In the evening there will
be dancing and food.
A Family Day is planned for
June 2. There will be an ice
cream social, anniversary
events for the family and a
concert by Kol B'Seder.

Midrasha College
Plans Lecture

Temple Kol Ami, in
cooperation with the
Midrasha — College of Jewish
Studies, will hold the third
lecture in the Temple Kol
Ami Torah Lecture Series
7:30 p.m. June 9 at Temple
Kol Ami.
Dr. Jane Schaberg of the
University of Detroit will
speak on "A Christian
Scholar's Perspective on the
Hebrew Bible." Dr. Schaberg,
chair of the religious studies
department of the University
of Detroit Mercy, received her
doctorate in biblical studies
from Union Theological
Seminary. She is the author
of two books of biblical
interpretation.
The community is invited to
attend; there is no charge.

Rabbi Wine
Reviews Book

Rabbi Sherwin Wine of the
Birmingham 'Temple will pre-
sent the second of two reviews
on the theme "Jewish Writers
and the Human Condition"
8:30 p.m. June 10 at the
temple.
He will discuss Scum, a
novel of nostalgia and
warmth, by Isaac Bashevis
Singer.
There is a charge.
