Temple Kol Ami
Silver Anniversary

Temple Kol Ami will mark
its 25th anniversary with ser-
vices, a dinner dance and a
family celebration.
At Shabbat services May
31, the temple will host
Albert Vorspan, senior vice
president of the Union of
American Congregations and
a director of the commission
on social action of Reform
Judaism. As a leader in social
action in the reform move-
ment, Mr. Vorspan has been a
participant in the civil rights
struggle and the nuclear
peace movement. He will also
participate in the Chevrat
Torah study session as well as
a Shabbat morning service
June 1.
An anniversary dinner
dance will take place June 1.
A musical review will be
presented.
The celebration will con-
tinue June 2 with an ice-
cream social followed by a
family concert. Rabbi Dan
Freelander and Cantor Jeff
Kleper, who sing together as
Kol B'Seder, will entertain.
The public is invited; there is
a charge. For information, call

Family Retreat

Adat Shalom Synagogue
families will participate in a
family retreat May 24-26 at
the Butzel Conference Center
in Ortonville.
The weekend theme is "Be-
ing A Jew In The '90s — Com-
bining Tradition With Moder-
nity." Families will ex-
perience Shabbat services,
meals and songs together, as
well as indoor and outdoor
games.
Rabbi Elliot Pachter and
Family Camp Coordinator
Marc Kay will accompany the
group. Sponsored by the
synagogue's Jewish Ex-
periences For Families Com-
mittee, the retreat is chaired
by Harriet and Sandy Mall
and Cindy and Steve Posen.
