reopened a sense for him of
the importance of a teacher-
student relationship. He
said that in the so-called old
days, a teacher was revered,
respected. A teacher taught
and learned out of love of
knowledge. Now, he implied,
it's more or less for a
paycheck.
Rob Orley also doesn't ex-
pect to drastically change
his lifestyle at this point.
But he said that the learn-
ing sessions are helping him
answer his children's
questions.
"When you go and you
hear these learned men
teach," Mr. Orley said,
"there's no way you can't
walk out of that room feel-
ing there's so much more to
all of this than we know."
Or as Gary Schiffman, 36,
said, "It's caused me to
think in ways I haven't done
in a long time. When you
are a so-called yuppie, you
are slowed down when it
comes to spirituality. For

me, the learning has helped
me take time to get closer to
religion. I consider this an
important step I'm taking in
my life. It's a personal fulfill-
ment of something that
wasn't in my life before."
"These are all fine and
good people," Rabbi Green-
field said. "Nobody's forcing
them to do the learning;
they want to be here.
They're learning from the
ground .up."
Rabbi Krohner said that
socially he has little in com-
mon with these business-
men," but "that doesn't
mean that we can't have a
strong bond between us."
Or as one of the business-
men said, "Yes, we all have
a certain amount of
material wealth. But Rabbi
Krohner and Rabbi Green-
field have more wealth than
all of us because none of us
can say that he's helped
change someone else's life.
That's not something money
can buy." ❑

They were widely believed
to have been trying to bug
the embassy's telephones.
But since wiretapping is not
illegal in Cyprus, they were
booked on six other counts.
The judge, anxious to
dispose of the case, readily
dropped five of the charges
after the guilty plea May 9.
Cyprus, he said, does not

Middle East disputes.
The Israelis were speedily
hustled out of the country.
They had been free on bail

at the Israeli Embassy,
which posted bond, provided
them with defense counsel

Alleged Mossad Agents
Get Slap On The Wrist

Tel Aviv (JTA) — Four
Israelis have been fined the

a district court in Nicosia,
Cyprus, after pleading guil-
ty to trespassing on the Ira-

tent to commit a felony.

ended a case which the

by Israel's foreign intel-
