This allows a person to live a healthier, happier life." BACKGROUND: Myrna Burke Partrich grew up in Detroit and lived on Pennington in northwest Detroit. Her father, Albert Burke, was a builder. She remembers a loving and peaceful childhood. She attended Camp Tamarack and the Jewish Community Center. "I had a warm, Jewish upbringing," Mrs. Partrich said. After she was graduated from Mumford High School, she attended Wayne State University. When she was fixed up with Spencer Partrich, she knew he was special. They have been married 25 years. A few years after her father died, she and her best friend arranged for her mother and the friend's father to meet. "It was so natural, and they have been married 20 years," Mrs. Partrich said. About 15 years ago, she became aware of the importance of exercise. She had always been very athletic and enjoyed aerobics. She teamed up with her friend Barbara Schiff and together they began teaching aerobic classes in basements and school gyms. When they had saved enough money to put in the best floor for aerobic exercise, they opened a studio, The Workout Company. The Workout Company celebrates its 10th anniversary this year.
