RACHEL KARLIN Akiva BEN KEIDAN West Bloomfield EMMA KLEEREKOPER JASON KOENIG Southfield-Lathrop Andover Karlin is attending Michlelet Orot, a women's college in Elkana, Israel, to complete her 12th year program at Yeshivat Akiva. She is a member of the National Honor Society, recipient of the David I. Berris Scholastic Achievement Award and the Bnei Akiva Torah V' Avodah Award. She was student coun- cil president at Akiva and a Bnei Akiva representative on the March of the Living in Poland and Israel. Keidan will attend the University of Michigan and plans to study law or medicine. He was all-league and honorable mention all- area in cross country and tri- captain of the track team. He was a member of the varsity tennis team as a sophomore and co-captain of junior var- sity soccer. As a senior, he is sports editor of the Spectrum, a member of the National Honor Society, and will graduate summa cum laude. Kleerekoper is active in the student government, the Thespian Troupe, National Honor Society and United Synagogue Youth. Through her Hebrew studies, she won the Zilpah Tobin Award and the Pearl Scholarship. She is a kindergarten aide at the Agency for Jewish Education. She will attend the Universi- ty of Michigan and plans to major in chemistry. Koenig will attend the University of Michigan. He is senior class president, and was class president during fresh- man and junior years. He is captain of the soccer team, and this year was named most valuable player, all-league first team and all-area second team. He is a member of the National Honor Society and is a National Merit commended student. He is Phi Beta Kap- pa, and received the Dart- mouth Book Award. DENA KIJPERMAN RACHEL LESSEM LISA LOEWENTHAL LEAH MARKOWITZ Kuperman is Phi Beta Kap- pa, a Michigan Competitive Scholarship qualifier, and a Wayne State Merit Scholar. She has been recognized for her excellence in Hebrew studies. She is a leader at a local branch of Bnos youth groups, and is an active member in the drama and chesed groups. She plans to spend next year in Israel to continue her Hebrew studies. Lessem is a National Merit Scholarship finalist and belongs to National Honor Society. She is recipient of the League of Jewish Women's Organizations Annual Youth Award for 1991 and a Univer- sity of Michigan Regents' Scholarship. She is on the social action board for Michigan State Temple Youth. She will attend the University of Michigan in a combined Honors College/ Residential College program. Loewenthal will spend a year in Israel in Bnei Akiva's Hachshara program, working on a kibbutz and studying at a yeshiva. She plans to attend Columbia College to study mathematics and fine arts. She is a member of the Cum Laude Society, is .Phi Beta Kappa, a member and coor- dinator for Bnei Akiva and NCSY. She was on the staff of Cranbrook's Art and Litera- ture magazine for three years. Beth Jacob Berkley Cranbrook Kingswood Andover _ Markowitz will attend the University of Michigan's Honors College, major in foreign languages and study abroad in her junior year.
