NANCY BERMAN GABRIELLA BURMAN Southfield-Lathrup STEVEN CHINITZ Southfield-Lathrup Alkalay has medicine as a career goal. He was active in the Spanish club and in- tramural volleyball. He was a hospital volunteer, tutors children and plans to attend the University of Michigan. Berman is vice president of Interact, a community service club, at Southfield-Lathrup. She has studied Hebrew throughout her education and will study for a year in Israel at Midreshet Moriah. She has been active in Bnei Akiva as a youth leader, and as presi- dent for the past two years. She has attended Bnei Aviva camp for eight years and will return to Camp Stone this summer as a counselor. Burman will attend Johns Hopkins and plans to pursue a career in writing. She studies tap dancing and piano, and works as a Hebrew tutor for Shaarey Zedek. She is a member of the National Honor Society, the Interact Service Club, and the staff of S-L's creative arts magazine, Expressions. She enjoys ski- ing, reading and traveling. Chinitz was in Ferndale's pro- duction of Fiddler on the Roof this spring and will attend the University of Michigan's col- lege of engineering. He is a member of the National Honor Society, Phi Beta Kap- pa, and plays trombone in Ferndale's marching band, or- chestra, symphony band, jazz band, pit orchestra, and is stu- dent leader of the pep band. He is a three-year member of the varsity swim team and is a madrigal singer. REBECCA COHEN STEVEN COOK CARRIE CURTIS MICHELLE DORFMAN Southfield-Lathrup North Farmington Cohen plans to attend the University of Michigan. She is a member of the National Honor Society and a four-year member of the Class of 1991 board, this year as prom coor- dinator. She is co-editor-in- chief of S-L's creative arts magazine, Expressions. She is active in B'nai B'rith Youth Organization. She is a member of United Synagogue Youth, and tutors Hebrew at Shaarey Zedek. She plans a career in political journalism. Cook, summa cum laude at West Bloomfield High School, plans to attend the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a National Merit Scholar, Phi Beta Kappa, and the president of National Honor Society. Cook was also a captain of the football team and is co-editor-in-chief of the school newspaper. Curtis will attend Michigan State University and plans to major in business. She has been an honor roll student and on the class board throughout high school, is on the pompon squad, and is a former cheerleader. Dorfman is ranked fifth in her class, is Phi Beta Kappa and a three-year member of National Honor Society. She has worked on the staff of the Northern Star school news- paper as sports editor and assistant editor, is a television intern for Farmington schools' Channel 10 and anchors a weekly newscast. She was on the varsity pompon squad for two years. She will attend the University of Michigan and pursue a career in journalism.
