Cantorial Soloist
To Perform

A recital of Jewish sacred
music by Janet Pape, can-
torial soloist, sponsored by
the Jewish Cultural Society
of Ann Arbor, will take place
4:30 p.m. May 19 at the Ker-
rytown Concert House, 415 N.
Fourth Ave., Ann Arbor.

Ms. Pape studied voice at
the University of Michigan
and has been a cantorial
soloist in Ann Arbor (Temple
Beth Emeth), Brighton, and
Flint for the past fourteen
years, in addition to singing
early and contemporary mu-
sic in southeastern Michigan.
The program will be accom-
panied by Kenneth Sweet-
man, organist and choir-
master at Mariners' Church,
Detroit.

Youth Symphony
Holds Auditions

The Metropolitan Youth
Symphony will hold auditions
June 1 and August 24 at Nar-
din Park Church, 29887 W.
Eleven Mile Road, Farm-
ington Hills. Audition times

The Metropolitan Youth
Symphony, Inc., is a non-profit
organization to provide a
musical experience for its
over 250 students from a four
county area. Its concert
literature is primarily
classical, providing its
members a symphonic reper-
toire. All orchestral in-
strumentalists grades 5-12
are invited to audition.
All three orchestras
rehearse on Saturday from
9:30-12:30, September
through May at Southfield
Lathrup High -School at 12
Mile and Evergreen: The
three conductors are MSBOA
members and music
educators.
