Carlyle Michelman
Carlyle Michelman, of En-
cino, California, formerly of
Detroit, died April 27. Mr.
Michelman was an attorney
for over 50 years. He retired
in 1989 but had practiced law
in Detroit for 25 years and in
California from 1955 to 1989.
He was a graduate of North-
western High School and
received his BA and law de-
grees from the University of
Michigan. He graduated sum-
ma cum laude and received
the Phi Beta Kappa Key.
He helped write the
"Chandler Act," the national
• bankruptcy law. He was a
32nd Degree Mason, past
president of B'nai B'rith and
Shriners in California, past
president of Bankruptcy
Study Group and was ap-
pointed by federal and state
courts as a receiver and
trustee.
He leaves his wife Marjorie,
sons, Dr. Jeffrey and Ronald,
both of California; a brother,
Dr. Herbert of Florida; sisters,
Blanche Snyder of West
Bloomfield, Ethel Oringer of
West Bloomfield; five grand-
children. Services and inter-
ment were held in California.
Gertrude Friedman
Gertrude Friedman, 83, of
West Bloomfield, died May 2.
Mrs. Friedman was a gradu-
ate social worker and office
manager in the medical field.
She was a member of the Na-
tional Council of Jewish
Women.
She leaves her son and
daughter-in-law, Eugene and
Gail of Highland Park, Ill.;
daughters and sons-in-law,
Elaine and David Lebenbom
of Birmingham, Barbara and
Edward Klarman of South-
field; brother and sister-in-
law, Lawrence and Jeanne
Silverman of Minneapolis,
Mn.; 10 grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren.
Meyer Rosenbaum
Meyer Rosenbaum, 91, of
Southfield, died April 30.
Mr. Rosenbaum was presi-
dent and founder of Meyer
Jewelry Company from 1920
until he retired two years ago.
Mr. Rosenbaum was a mem-
ber of Temple Beth El,
Franklin Hills Country Club
and was involved with the
Henry Ford Hospital Re-
search Department, Planned
Parenthood League and
United Negro College Fund.
He leaves his daughter and
son-in-law, Marjorie and Ber-
nard Siegel of Southfield; a
sister, Matilda Schwartz of
Southfield; seven grand-
children.

Fannie Robinson
Hochman
Fannie Robinson Hochman,
92, of Royal Oak, died May 3.
Mrs. Hochman was in retail
sales with Perry Drugs and
ladies ready to wear. She was
a member of Congregation
Shaarey Zedek, Women's
Golden Rule Aid Society, past
officer of Pioneer Women
Na'amat, a member of
Lachovitcher Verein, Work-
men's Circle and Farband
Labor Zionist Organization.
She leaves her son and
daughter-in-law, Erwin and
Mildred of Huntington
Woods; daughter and son-in-
law, Frances and Bernard
Maggin of Rockville, Md.; son
and daughter-in-law, Jack
and Aviva of Bloomfield Hills;
21 grandchildren; 18 great-
grandchildren.

Kolmon "Kal" Sachse, 83,
of Huntington Woods, died
May 5. Mr. Sachse was the
chairman and founder of
Posture Mattress Company
for 25 years, which was one of
29 manufacturers of spring
air mattresses in the United
States. He was a member of
Wabeek Country Club and
Congregation Shaarey Zedek.
He leaves his wife, Pearl;
son and daughter-in-law,
Charles and Barbara of
Bloomfield Hills; daughter,
Andrea of Birmingham;
sister, Helen Dushkin;
brother and sister-in-law,
Ernest and Tess, six grand-
children; one great-grandson.
Dr. Nancy Sue
Palchik
Nancy Sue Palchik, 44, of
Ann Arbor, died May 4. She
was an assistant professor at
the University of Michigan
Medical School and received
her PhD in public health from
the University of Michigan.
She leaves her daughter,
Elizabeth Allen; mother,
Mollie of New York; sister and
brother-in-law, Sally and
Jamil Ragep of Norman,
Okla. Services and interment
were held in Ann Arbor.
