Henry Ford Museum
Village Antiques Show

Treasures of past genera-
tions will be on view for pro-
spective new owners May 10,
11 & 12 at Henry Ford
Museum and Greenfield
Village's seventh annual
Village Antiques Show.
The museum's Lovett Hall
will provide an elegant and
intimate setting for 47
dealers from across the na-
tion. Each will present a
selection of antique merchan-
dise, available in Michigan
for the first time in 1991.
Complementing the show
will be the Katherine B.
Hagler Memorial Mini
Forum, a free lecture series
designed for the private col-
lector. On May 10, John
Zolomij, director of the Ray-
mond E. Holland Automotive
Art Collection, will discuss
"The Motor Car in Art" from
his book of the same title. On
May 11, David Lindquist,
dealer in 18th and 19th-
century English and country
French antiques, will present
"Antique Furniture: What To
Know Before You Buy." Both

talks are free with Village
Antiques Show admission.
A gala preview night party
May 9 will offer an advance
opportunity to survey and
purchase antiques before the
public opening on May 10.
Preview ticket prices range
from $100 to $300.
Proceeds from the Village
Antiques Show support all
aspects of Henry Ford
Museum and Greenfield
Village, including educa-
tional experiences such as
one-room schoolhouse classes
and preservation of Thomas
Edison's Menlo Park labora-
tory and other historic
buildings.
Tickets for the Village An-
tiques Show are $5 in ad-
vance,_$6 at the door, and are
separate from regular
museum or village admission.
A single ticket purchase is
good for all three days of the
show.

Handmade Paper, Prints
At Hayman Gallery

Contemporary styles of
handmade paper and
monotype prints by former
Detroiter Mary Fisher will be
exhibited May 3-31 at Linda
Hayman Gallery in Farm-
ington Hills.
Ms. Fisher has been work-
ing in handmade paper since
1987. She has combined the

ancient Chinese art of paper
making and created a new art
form from what was once a
dying process. The handmade
paper in Ms. Fisher's show is
made primarily from cotton
rag that has been processed to
pulp through bleaching and
beating and then pigmented.

F.R.E.E. (Friends of
Refugees of Eastern Europe),
in conjunction with Tiferet
Gallery, will present its first
annual Art for F.R.E.E. ex-
hibit and sale 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
May 12 at Embassy Suites
Hotel.
The show will feature works
of Israeli artists. Included will
be the works of Dubi Arie,
whose painting The Mission
is a panorama of the history
of the Jewish people.
Appearing in person will be
Rafi Landau, silversmith of
handcrafted Judaica; and
Robert Kleiman, weaver of
Jewish ceremonial art. A
selection of art prints will be
shown.
