To Perform Mozart

In observance of the 200th
anniversary of the death of
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart,
the Pro Mozart Society of
Greater Detroit will present
its 32nd annual concert 3 p.m.
May 5 at the Grosse Pointe
War Memorial.
A wide variety of Mozart's
music will be presented by a
group of young Soviet Jewish
emigres, including former
members of the Leningrad
Symphony Orchestra in their
debut performance in this
area.
The artists include Naoum
Shulman, bassoon; Yury
Khalitov, clarinet; Ilya
Kozadayev, piano; Irina
Tikhonov, cello; Marina
Zarkhin, piano; and Vitaly
Kozadayev, flute. Featured in
the group will be Simon
Zarkhin, who is a 7-year-old
violin prodigy.
Guest speaker at the event
will be the consul of
Czechoslovakia, Dr. Vladimir
Galuska. Vocalists Earnes-
tine Nimmons, Virginia Per-
son and Margaret Rees-
Andrews will also perform.

nual "Salute to Michigan"
concert in East Lansing 8
p.m. May 1 at Wharton
Center for the Performing
Arts on the campus of
Michigan State University.
Presented as a "thank-you"
to the people of Michigan for
their support of the Orchestra
as extended by their state
government, this concert is
co-sponsored by DSOH and
Detroit Renaissance.
This will be an evening of
all-American light classical
and pops music conducted by
Mitch Miller. Tickets are
