"That's why I thought I'd died and gone to heaven when I first went to a Tip Toppers function," she said. "All these tall men! I was so tired of short, little men at 5 feet 7 or 5 feet 10. Their heads always just reached my chest." Compare this to a blind date Ms. Nass had many years ago. She met her date while she was sitting down at a dance. He was 5 foot 2 inches. When she rose to meet him, he protested, "You didn't sound this tall on the phone!" Ms. Nass replied, "I was sitting down at the time." Miss Tall Toronto enjoys meeting people she can talk to on her own level. Tall Clubs International is like a big family. Two ardent members of that family are Miss Tall International and her fiance, whom she met at a St. Louis club meeting. The pair will be marrying this summer at the California national con- vention. Ms. Holler plans to have all of the local title- holders as her bridesmaids at the wedding in Golden Gate Park. "My wedding party should be visible for miles," she said. People are constantly ask- ing these lissome ladies, "How's the weather up there?" After years of thought, Ms. Forrest coined the retort, "When you grow up, you'll find out." Neil Marko, a past treasurer of Tip Toppers, feels that the T-shirts printed by the local club cap- sulize the life of a tall per- son. Some of his favorite maxims are: "Kiss someone tall — it's worth the climb." Or, "No, I don't play basketball — do you play miniature golf?" And then _there's, "Life's short, but I'm not." But Tall Clubs don't only print T-shirts. They also act as a marketing force. Lovers of luxurious king-sized beds owe thanks to the Tip Toppers Club, which prompted the first manufac- turing and marketing of the larger sized beds. "All people are born short," Mr. Marko summed up. "Only a few rise above it." Li Mon. - Sat. 10:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. 8 5 5 9 2 0 0 When only the best will do . . .
