The Lyric Chamber Ensem-
ble will present the second
concert of its Third Annual
Piano Festival 7 p.m. April 21
at Orchestra Hall.
This concert will feature
music programmed by Vladi-
mir Horowitz in recital and
played on a 9-foot Steinway
concert grand piano, acquired
by the Steinway Company
from a private estate specific-
ally for use by Mr. Horowitz.
Performing on the Horowitz
Steinway will be Michigan
pianists Flavio Varani, Louis
Nagel, Joseph Gurt, Fedora
Horowitz and Michael Gurt.
The program, comprised of-
pieces associated with
Horowitz recitals and recor-
dings, will include the Sonata
in E Flat Major by Haydn,
Rachmaninoff s "Etude-Tab-
leau" and Prelude in G Minor,
Mendelssohn's "Songs
Without Words," and his
"Variations Serieuses,"
Sonata No. 5 by Scriabine,
Prokofiev's Toccata in C Ma-
jor Sonata in F# Minor, by
Clementi, two Debussy
preludes, and the Sonata No.
2 in B Flat Minor by Chopin.
The grand finale will be a
transcription of Moussor-
gski's "The Great Gate of
Kiev" from Pictures at an Ex-
hibition, for four pianos,
taken from a piano transcip-
tion used by Horowitz in
recital.
