Chamber Ensemble
Horowitz Concert

The Lyric Chamber Ensem-
ble will present the second
concert of its third annual
piano festival 7 p.m. April 21
at Orchestra Hall.
Performing on the Horowitz
Steinway will be Michigan
pianists Flavio Varani, Louis
Nagel, Joseph Gurt, Fedora
Horowitz and Michael Gurt.
The program, comprised of
pieces associated with
Horowitz recitals and recor-
dings, includes the Sonata
in E Flat Major by Hay-
den, Rachmaninoff's Etude
Tableau and Prelude in G
Sharp Minor, Mendelssohn's
Songs without Words, and
Variations Serieuses, Sonata
No. 5 by Scriabine, Prokofiev's
Toccata in C Major, Sonata in
F# Minor by Clementi, two
Debussy preludes, and the
Sonata No. 2 in B Flat Minor
by Chopin. The finale will
be a transcription of Mous-
sorgski's "The Great Gate
of Kiev" from Pictures at
an Exhibition, for four pianos,
taken from a piano transcrip-
tion used by Horowitz in
recital.

Dor L'Dor Concert
At Adat Shalom

The annual Dor L'Dor Con-
cert will be 7:30 p.m. May 2
at Adat Shalom Synagogue.
This intergenerational choir
is comprised of singers from
the Jewish Community Cen-
ter, the Fleischman Resi-
dence, and sixth grade stu-
dents from Hillel Day School.
The Dor L'Dor choir is a
joint project sponsored by the
National Council of Jewish
Women, the Jewish Com-
munity Center Senior Adult
Department, Hillel Day
School and the Fleischman
Residence. There is no charge.

Readers Theater
Spring Series

The second program of the
1991 Spring Series of the
Readers Theater will be 3:30
p.m. May 5 at the Maple-
Drake Jewish Community
Center.
Stories by Bertolt Brecht,
Arthur Miller, Bernard
Malamud and a Chelm tale
will be read by Detroit
actors, David Fox, Maureen
McDevitt, Elizabeth Elkin
Weiss and Rube Weiss.
The performance will be
preceded by a complimentary
wine bar at 3 p.m. For infor-
