Wins U.S. Event
Lauren Wolfe, the 13-year-
old wrestler from Okemos,
was a winner at the U.S.
Women's World Champion-
ship Trials in Toledo two
weeks ago.
Lauren, who is undefeated
in 16 matches against boys in
her middle school league this
year, won four matches, in-
cluding three by pins, at the
trials. She competed in the 44
kilogram (96 pound) division.
She will not be allowed to
wrestle in the World Cham-
pionships in Tokyo this sum-
mer, however, because she is
not 16.
Hall of Fame
Sets Scholarship
The Michigan Jewish
Sports Hall of Fame will spon-
sor a scholarship program.
Every Detroit area high
school may submit candidates
for the Michigan Sports Hall
of Fame Scholarship for
Jewish Youth. This year's
scholarship award is $500.
Applicants will be screened
by a special scholarship com-
mittee. Scholarship ap-
plicants will be judged on:
• Athletic ability. The appli-
cant must be a bona fide
member of a high school var-
sity team. The scholarship
committee prefers that the
applicant has received at
least one varsity letter.
• Financial need. This must
be supported by submitting a
copy of the parents' 1990
Federal Income Tax Return.
• Scholarship.
• General community acti-
vity.
• The recipient must enter
a college or university in the
term immediately following
the granting of the scholar-
ship.

by May 15. For information,
