Dinner, Speaker

The Livonia Jewish Con-
gregation will honor Jeffery
Kirsch at the 32nd annual
Chai Dinner 5:30 p.m. April
28 at the synagogue.
Mr. Kirsch, a member of the
synagogue since his youth, is
being honored for his long-
standing commitment and ac-
tivity in the congregation. He
was president of the syna-
gogue youth group, has been
religious chairman for over 10
years, and held the office of
vice president for four years.
The dinner will be followed
by a musical review of Phan-
tom of the Opera performed by
Barbara Alexander, accom-
panied by Doris Hall.

The Livonia JeWish Con-
gregation will host Dr. Leon
Warshay, professor of
sociology at Wayne State
University and president of
the Detroit Zionist Federation
8 p.m. April 19. Dr. Warshay
will give a presentation on
Middle Eastern affairs during
Shabbat services titled "Mid-
dle East Update."

Environment Day
At Emanu-El

Temple Emanu-El will
observe its second annual At-
zim Chayim — Trees Are Life
celebration 10 a.m. April 28.
The theme of the program is
"Plant, Preserve, and Prac-
tice!" Adults and students will
study in separate 10 a.m.
sessions.
At 11 a.m., the congrega-
tion will assemble in front of
the temple to plant 10 trees.
Global Releaf is assisting
Temple Emanu-El in this
project.
The community is invited.
