Fruit gift Baskets Art Historian At Ariana Gallery In a slide lecture/presenta- tion, art historian Hope Palmer will explore the ever- expanding world of contem- porary glass and the artists whose works have contri- buted to the unexplored ar- tistic territory of the glass movement 1:30-3 p.m. April 13 at Ariana Gallery, Birmingham. Thirty years have elapsed since a seminar in 1962 at the University of Wisconsin which gave impetus to the glass renaissance in America. At this seminar a way was found of melting glass in a furnace small enough to be used away from the confines of industry. With the enthusiasm of adventurers charting un- known territory, glass makers have been carried along by their own curiosity, generating a flow of artistic energy. For reservations, call 647-6405. There is no charge. WE SPECIALIZE IN HOLIDAY GIFT BASKETS 673671 Orchard LI. .Rd last Bloomfield Plaza 2 Doors S. of Deli Unique ARTHUR M. Fiber Art The Fisher Building, a Na- tional Historic Monument in Detroit, has inspired fiber ar- tist Dianne Miller Wolman to create a series of framed embroideries. Using a variety of threads, fabrics, and stitches, she has created images of the interior spaces, architectural details and patterns of the Fisher. In honor of National Historic Preservation Week, these pieces are on exhibition in the lobby of the Fisher Building from May 1-30. Ms. Wolman, who studied needle arts in England, works from her studio in Birm- ingham. She creates em- broideries and wall quilts from a variety of materials, using contemporary and traditional techniques, in- cluding hand and machine stitching.
