A History of Helping

"JVS was a lifesaver."

Louise George looked forward to re-entering

the work force after her divorce. But after more

than 20 years as a homemaker, she had no idea how
to choose and prepare for a career. Fortunately, the
JVS Displaced Homemaker Program was there to

help.

"JVS was a lifesaver," she says. "They encour-
aged me, taught me how to present myself and my

skills. and helped me build my confidence." JVS
also helped her apply for a graduate assistantship
at Oakland University, which financed her studies

ill counseling.
