Congregation Beth Achim
will hold its annual Weekend
Scholar program April 26-27.
The weekend will feature Dr.
Miriam Klein Shapiro, presi-
dent of the Union for Tradi-
tional Judaism. The week-
end, planned by the Adult
Education Committee, will
include Shabbat services,
meals and lectures by Dr.
Shapiro.
The weekend will begin
with Kabbalat Shabbat ser-
vices 6 p.m. April 26. After-
ward, Dr. Shapiro will speak
at dinner on "What is the
Meaning of Success?" Shab-
bat morning, she will deliver
the sermon "Sarah the
Matriarch in the Eyes of the
Commentaries." A luncheon
and a question and answer
period will follow services.
Mincha service at 7:30 p.m.
will be followed by dessert
and the final lecture "Mean-
ings for Today in the Coun-
ting of the Omer." The
weekend will conclude with
Maariv and Havdalah at 9
p.m.
Dr. Shapiro is education
specialist for Westchester,
Board of Jewish Education of
Greater New York.
