Convention Awards

Shaarey Zedek USY has
been named Central Region
United . Synagogue Youth
Chapter of the Year for the se-
cond year in a row at the 38th
annual regional convention.
It was the first time ever that
a chapter has won this award
in two consecutive years.
In addition, SZUSY won
seven other awards including
two awards for membership
expansion, one for "Best
ongoing social action pro-
gramming;' "Best ongoing
fund-raising," "Best ongoing
religious education program-

ming" for their weekly
Shabbat services, "Best
social" for their region-wide
dance, and "Best chapter
retreat" for their Field of
Dreams retreat.
The awards were accepted
by SZUSY president
Jonathan Bruss. The Shaarey
Zedek delegation includes Jill
Bruss, Amy Wagner, Ilana
Glazier, Sarah Hazan, Sarah
Meyers, Greg Meyers, Traci
Provizer, Jessica Tam, Debbi
Hortick, Lori Gartenberg and
Jeff Covensky. Adviser is Rob
Bloomberg.

Lastly, we want to thank everyone who showed us strength and support over the

Plans 2 Lunch Speakers

Adat Shalom will hold two
lunch and learn programs
11:45 a.m.-1:15 p.m. April 10
and 24.
The April 10 meeting will
feature Alaine Waldshan and
Karen Zalenko, Adat Shalom
USY teen leaders who par-
ticipated in last summer's
USY experience "From
Holocaust to Rebirth: A
Journey from Poland to
Israel." They will speak about
their trip, show slides and
answer questions.
On April 24, Sivan Maas,
Community Sh'lichah, will
discuss "Israel Before, During
and After the Gulf Crisis."
