Savings Plan To Aid
Students' Israel 'Dips

Students may receive up to
$700 in matching funds as a
gift from the Jewish com-
munity toward the cost of an
educational trip to Israel.
Administered by the Israel
Desk of the Jewish Welfare
Federation, the Ben Teitel
Israel Incentive Savings Plan
provides $100 for each year a
student at an approved
Detroit-area Jewish day, Sun-
day or afternoon school saves
$150 toward Israel
travel-study.
- The program, a dual com-
mitment by the students'
families and the community,
is intended to encourage teen-
agers to visit Israel on
organized educational trips of
their choice and also continue
their formal Jewish educa-
tional programs, in the
Detroit area.
Students enter the plan
while in the fifth grade and
may continue to earn mat-
ching funds through their
senior year in high school.

The trip may be taken any
time before the January after
high school graduation.
Students and their families
deposit their contributions in-
to an interest-bearing ac-
count of their choosing, and
are eligible for the communi-
ty grant after participating in
the program for four years.
Those who require additional
financial assistance for Israel
travel are encouraged to
check into scholarship pro-
grams at the Israel Desk.
The incentive savings plan
was endowed by the Ben N.
Teitel Charitable Trust
through the Federated En-
dowment Fund.
For details on the Ben
Teitel Israel Incentive Sav-
ings Plan, parents of fifth
graders or younger students
should contact Sivan Maas at
the Israel Desk, 661-5440.
Enrollment deadline for this
year's fifth graders is Sept.
