Hosts Feminist Film
The Ann Arbor Chapter-at-
Large of Women's American
ORT and the Jewish Feminist
Group of Hillel will be show-
ing the award-winning film
Half the Kingdom by Cana-
dian filmmaker Francine
Zuckerman 7:30 p.m. April 7
in the U-M Hillel Foundation.
Half the Kingdom is a
feature documentary in
which seven Jewish women
from Canada, Israel and the
United States strive to find
common ground between
religious and cultural tradi-
tion and contemporary
feminist principals.
The participants are:
Norman Baumel Joseph,
Orthodox feminist and
scholar; former Detroiter
Esther Broner, writer; Elyse
Goldstein, Reform rabbi;
Michele Landsberg, jour-
nalist; Naomi Goldenberg,
professor of religious studies;
Shulamit Aloni, Israeli
political leader; and Alice
Shalvi, Israeli journalist and
political activist.
After the video presenta-
tion, the co-director Francine
Zuckerman will answer ques-
tions and talk about the mak-
ing of her film.

Art Display
In Ann Arbor
Art by more than a dozen
Jewish artists from
Washtenaw County and
prints of graphic works by
prominent Israeli artists will
be sold at "Spring for Art," an
art display and sale 1-4 p.m.
April 28 at the Washtenaw
County Jewish Community
Center, Ann Arbor.
A benefit for the JCC, the
exhibit will showcase works
by Jewish artists but is not
restricted to Jewish subjects.
Participants include local ar-
tists John Moga, Gloria
Lazar, Vickie Schwager,
Barry Avedon, Orly Lauffer,
Barbara Brodsky, Marianne
Sachs, Joan Rosenblum and
Fred Horowitz.
Prints of graphic works by
prominent Israeli artists will
also be sold.
Additional local Jewish ar-
tists are welcome to par-
