office by the German Con- sul in Cleveland, Karl Capp, in the presence of Fritz Hailer, the German Consul in Detroit who later played a notoriously pro- Nazi role in America .. . Nazi propagandists were linked with the Ford organization during the years of Nazi horror. Fritz Kuhn, a proven Nazi agent, was among those courted by Henry Ford. The United Auto Workers' Union was accused by the Ford Motor Company of "Nazi sym- pathies" in the 1940s and the famous car manufac- turing company had its name besmirched with a link to Hitlerism as a result of the continuing pre- judices of its founding head. There were also ac- cusations that the elder Ford was linked with the Ku-Klux-Klan. In 1942 Henry Ford com- mented to a leading cor- respondent: "I still believe the international Jew is responsible for the war" .. . But while Henry Ford's anti-Semitism is recalled, there is unanimity that his son Edsel, who was hound- ed by his father, was inno- cent; that Mrs. Edsel Ford and her sons are doing all they can do to atone for the sins of the old man. While Ford's home town remem- bees the evils of the elder industrialist, there is due caution that his sins should not be visited upon his grandchildren. Anti-Semites, therefore, remain unforgotten. "Protocols" charging that Jews dominate everywhere and over everything is their nefarious bible. Father Coughlin made much of it. He will be exposed in an im- pressive study of his life by Professor Donald Warren of Oakland University which will be published soon. The "Protocols" and their accompanying poisons often appear too disgusting to be tackled. But the facts need to be known in the battle against anti-Semitism. They are ugly facts but they need to be known while striving for truth and justice. ❑ Tables • Desks Wall Units Bedrooms Dining Rooms I FOR WOMEN1 Women's League Conference In Flint Michigan Branch of Women's League For Conser- vative Judaism Spring Con- ference will be held April 28-29 at Beth Israel Synagogue in Flint.
