Health-O-Rama
At Sinai April 21
Sinai Hospital will host
Project Health-O-Rama on
April 21 at its main facility
on Outer Drive in Detroit.
The community health pro-
gram offers free medical
screenings to individuals 18
years of age and older. The
screenings include blood
pressure, height and weight,
oral and dental, hearing, vi-
sion, glaucoma and
pulmonary function.
Two low-cost tests — an $11
blood panel which includes a
cholesterol level check, and a
$3 take-home colorectal
screening test — will be of-
fered. Sinai nurses will offer
a personalized evaluation of
each individual's health
screening upon completion.
Sinai and other community
service professionals will be
on hand during the day-long
event to offer advice on nutri-
tion, medication counseling,
Social Security policies and
beginning CPR training.
Project Health-O-Rama will
be held 9 a.m.-4 p.m. in
Sinai's Zuckerman Dining
Room. It is co-sponsored by
WXYZ-TV Channel 7, Blue
Cross-Blue Shield of
Michigan, Blue Care Net-
work of Southeast Michigan
and the United Health
Organization.
Panim El Panim
In Washington
Four students sponsored by
the Agency for Jewish Educa-
tion participated in Panim el
Panim High School in Wash-
ington. They are: Brant
Friedenberg, Matt Levine,
Joshua Lichtman and Bonnie
Wolfe. The program brings
Jewish high school students
from across the nation to
Washington for a Jewish in-
troduction to how the govern-
ment really works and how
they can become more active-
ly involved citizens.
Highlights of the program
were a meeting with Myra
Clark from the American
Israel Public Affairs Commit-
tee, a briefing at the Israeli
Embassy by Warren Edelman
and Operation Exodus volun-
teer Gayle Schindler. Rabbi
David Saperstein, director of
the Religious Action Center of
Reform Judaism, gave the
keynote address on "Jews and
the Political Process!'
The program is designed to
show the relevance of tradi-
tional Jewish sources to world
issues and to inspire a new
generation of Jews to think
about the future leadership
roles in public affairs and
Jewish community relations.
