Music Study Club
Hosts Soviet Artists

Soviet artists Vladimir Kar-
minski and Arina Bour-
mistrova will perform for the
Music Study Club of Metro-
politan Detroit, 3 p.m. April
14, at the Birmingham
Temple.
Mr. Karminski, a pianist
and composer, was born in the
Ukraine. He attended the
Moscow Conservatory of
Music. Gaining fame as both
a pianist and composer, he
traveled extensively in the
Soviet Union where he played
and composed music for many
professional groups. He and
his wife, Arina, have perform-
ed with the Mosconcert, the
most popular orchestra in
Russia.
Arina Bourmistrova was
born in Sverdlovsk, Russia.
Her love of music was evident
early. At age 5, she began
writing songs. At 16, she
began singing in Russian
clubs. She met Vladimir in
his Metronum orchestra,
which he originated and
conducted.
They have been in the
United States over a year and
will present original composi-
tions in both English and
Russian, and standard
American and Jewish songs.
For concert information,
call Elaine Kohner, 851-3662.
