The Baldwin Public Library, Birmingham, will of- fer a varied schedule of events and activities for kids, from live theatre to tee-shirt designing. April programs are: "Mr. Inflation," 2 p.m. April 1. An April Fool's program with balloon sculptures and fun. No registration. Storyteller Laura Pershin 2 p.m. April 2 embellishes her stories from around the world with rhythmic chants, move- ment and song. "Heroes, A Celebration of American Dreamers," 2 p.m. April 3. TheatrEtcetera will perform this musical story. No registration. "Onion Magic," 2 p.m. April 4 is an adaptation of "The Foolish Frog" fairy tale, per- formed by Puppet Place Theatre. No registration. Mary Ellen the Clown 2 p.m. April 5 performs a varie- ty show of magic, puppetry and storytelling for the whole family. No registration. Stories, puppets and masks 2 p.m. April 6. Professor Donald Proctor, U. of M. Dearborn, will discuss the book by John Hope Franklin, one of America's black scholars, who sees the price of peace and reconciliation (during Recon- struction) as another century of second-class citizenship for black Americans. "The Magic Onion," will be presented by the Puppet Palace 4-5 p.m. April 3. It's a puppet show for the whole family. No registration. Paperback Book Swap will take place 3-5 p.m. April 4 for kids ages 8-13 to bring books to swap. Books must be paper- back, in good condition and suitable for the age group. Creating a Wildlife Habitat in Your Yard — Master Gardener Program 7:30-9 p.m. April 9. Master gardener Coleen Trayor will show how to restore the natural habitat of birds, rabbits and raccoons on your own property. The Beauty of Banff 7:30-9 p.m. April 23. Ernest Ban- field will conduct a tour, via slides, of the Canadian Rockies and the City of Banff. Herb Gardening — Master Gardener Program 1-4 p.m. April 27.
