B'nai David To Hold
Cantorial Concert

Congregation B'nai David
will host its 4th Annual Gala
Cantorial Concert 7:30 p.m.
April 10 at the synagogue.
The program of liturgical,
Hebrew and Yiddish selec-
tions will feature B'nai
David's Cantor Stuart Fried-
man and Cantor Emeritus
Hyman Adler, as well as Can-
tors Paul Kowarsky of Toron-
to, and Moshe Taube of Pitt-
sburgh. The cantors will be
accompanied by pianist, Can-
tor Sholom Kalib.
Cantor Kowarsky, born in
South Africa, serves as chaz-
zan of Congregation Beth
Tzedec in Toronto. He studied
chazzanut with Cantor
Shlomo Mandel, and studied
at the Tel Aviv Cantorial
Academy with Cantor Leib
Glantz. Cantor Kowarsky has
performed a series of concerts
and conducted services in
Russia, Romania and
Yugoslavia.
Cantor Taube, born in
Kracow, Poland, has served as
chazzan of Congregation Beth
Shalom in Pittsburgh since
1965. At the age of eight, he
began his musical studies at
the local conservatory.
Emigrating to Palestine, Can-
tor Taube studied at the In-
stitute of Music in Haifa and
the Jerusalem Conservatory.
He is also a graduate of the
Julliard School of Music in
New York. Prior to his arrival
in the United States in 1957,
he was a concert artist in
Israel and served as cantor of
the "Bograshov" Synagogue
in Aviv. Since 1970, he has
served as an adjunct professor
of voice and music at Du-
quesne University in
Pittsburgh.
