Always the iconoclast, Ferre doesn't
disappoint. His work for Dior may
have influenced his own signature

Milan fashion can afford to be very
comfortable within himself, making
only slight embellishments on his
now-famous tailored jackets. Softer,
rounded shoulders with a variety of
lapel cuts, mixed with wrap skirts and
high-cut walking shorts — all very
classic, tres Armani. Colors are natural-
ly subdued, although Armani does
allow for some occasional flash with
sequined and embroidered jackets
and skirts.
For summer 1991, women will be
mixing the old and the new. Now's
the time to dig into the attic, or hope
your mother hasn't thrown out every-
thing from her frivolous past. Authen-
tic (or imitation) Pucci blouses, mix-
ed with a contemporary black
miniskirt, will be current and
fashionable. If you can't afford pricey
Armani or Versace, a long blazer with
walking shorts and a simple Jackie 0
slipdress will update your wardrobe
nicely and make you comfortable on
the streets of Paris, Milan or
Detroit.
