Ethel Shear has been past president of the Jewish War Veteran's ladies auxiliary, having won the Eisenhower Award for selling the most U.S. Bonds during World War II for that organization. She also is a past president of Pioneer Women (now Na'amat). Louis Shear retired from GM-Fisher Body, Fleetwood Division, being the oldest retiree from that division. He has been in this country, com- ing from Lithunia, for 86 years. Mr. and Mrs. Shear celebrated their anniversary with their children, Dr. and Mrs. Phillip (Rose) Shear of Southfield, Mr. and Mrs. Ir- win (Edith) Shear of Clawson, and Harriet and Judge Donald R. Freeman of Flint, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild at a reception at the nursing center. LOCAL NEWS I Young Adult Division Hosts Dinner, Lecture The Young Adult Division of the Jewish Welfare Federa- tion will hold its third annual dinner dance 8:45 p.m. April 13 at the Hyatt Regency in Dearborn. The gathering, open to all Jewish young adults (post- college to mid-30s), will in- clude a buffet reception with a cash bar and dancing to the "Hot Ice" performance band. The event is being organiz- ed by Jeffrey Barker and Steven Perlman, chairmen of the YAD social committee, and Stacy Gordon, associate chairman.
