Shalom Detroit
Hosts Meeting
Newcomers to the Detroit
area are invited to learn more
about the Detroit community
at a gathering 8 p.m. March
23 at the home of Lauren
Liss.
Shalom Detroit, the wel-
coming committee of the
Jewish Welfare Federation
Women's Division, will host
the event for new area
residents to meet each other
and members of the com-
mittee.
The event, which includes a
light dinner, will include a
presentation about the
community.

area, or who know of someone

Aleynu Class:
Freedom Review
Aleynu will hold a class at
which Rabbi Alon Tolwin will
address such questions as
"What did we actually learn
about freedom this Pesach?"
and "How can what we learn-
ed be applied to our lives to-
day?" 8-9 p.m. April 10 at
Sara's Deli.
There is a fee for the class
which includes dessert and a
drink.

Beth Achim
Pesach Workshop
The Men's Club of Con-
gregation Beth Achim will
conduct its annual "Art of
Jewish Living — The Pass-
over Seder" instructional
lessons 10-11:30 a.m. March
24 at the synagogue.
Rabbi Martin Berman will
discuss the seder and Cantor
Max Shimansky will teach
the songs sung at the seder.
There is no charge.
Art Expo, Sale
At Maple-Drake
The second annual Interna-
tional Art Expo and Sale will
be held April 7-17 at the
Maple-Drake Jewish Com-
munity Center.
The artists that will be
represented are: Itzik Ben
Shalom, Leon Bronstein,
Miriam Libhaber, Dora Lif-
shitz, Sara Mekler, Aviho
Mizrachi, Yosef Sassoon,
Michael Sacham, Jerry Soble,
Gila Stein and Sara Soldz.
This show will feature
sculptures, paintings and
woods. A reception will be
held April 7.
