Detroiters are responding to
the Yachad Trip to Israel,
sponsored by Jewish Welfare
Federation and the Jewish
Community Council.
The April 21-26 trip is open
to the entire Jewish
community.
Although the itinerary is
open to allow participants to
visit family and friends in
Israel, there will be several
highlights in which all
Detroiters will be together.
Among these will be the
welcoming of new im-
migrants from the USSR
aboard a plane specially
chartered by the family of the
late Edward Rose.
Participants in the non-
fund-raising trip will tour the
Tel Aviv area hit by Iraqi
missiles. They also will meet
with immigrants from
Michigan, who will share
their experiences of daily life.
Detroiters will have the op-
portunity to examine educa-
tion and housing facilities for
new immigrants and visit
Yavne, Detroit's Project
Renewal community. In addi-
tion, participants also will
tour a hi-tech facility near
Jerusalem.
Several forums are being
designed to enable trip par-
ticipants to discuss controver-
sial issues with experts and
members of the Knesset, in-
cluding U.S.-Israeli relations
in the post-Gulf War era and
the new strategic and
diplomatic situation in the
Middle East.
For information on the trip,
contact Tom Wexelberg-
Clouser at Federation,
965-3939, Ext. 121.
