Michigan Radio
Passover Music

The Passover holiday will
be celebrated in song as
Michigan Radio broadcasts a
one hour special 8 p.m. March
28. The songs of this eight-
day holiday represent hun-
dreds of unique community
traditions, and they are ex-
plored by composer and con-
ductor Srul Irving Glick and
the Kent State University
Chorale.
The special, entitled "Music
for Passover" celebrates all
the moods and emotions of
the holiday commemorating
the delivery of the Israelites
from slavery in Egypt.
The Ann Arbor News joins
Michigan Radio as under-
writer for the local broadcast
of "Music for Passover."
Michigan Radio, a listener-
supported broadcast service of
the University of Michigan,
can be heard on WUOM, 91.7
FM.

Cancer Foundation
Play Benefit

The Michigan Cancer Foun-
dation (MCF), Oakland
Regional Office, will offer an
opportunity to attend a play
at the Birmingham Theater.
Proceeds will be used to sup-
port the services and cancer
control works of MCF.
South Pacific will be 8 p.m.
May 17. The tickets are pric-
ed at $18 each, and must be
reserved by April 30. Tickets
must be purchased through
the Michigan Cancer Founda-
tion. For reservations, call
Ivory Underwood, 541-8162.

Jazz Ensemble
Pre-Tour Concert

The Vocal Jazz Ensemble at
Wayne State University will
present a pre-tour concert at
8 p.m. March 27 in the Com-
munity Arts Auditorium to
raise funds for its European
tour. The Dennis Tini
Quartet will also perform.
The ensemble will perform
selections of Rogers and Hart,
Manhattan Transfer, Cole
Porter, Gershwin, Fats Waller
and other contemporary
music.
The Quartet includes WSU
music Professor Tini on piano,
George "Sax" Benson on alto
and tenor saxophone. Don
Mayberry on saxophone and
Dr. Tom Brown, WSU
physiology, on drums. The
group will play a wide varie-
ty of jazz and contemporary
selections plus original com-
positions by Tini.
On tour the students will
perform with musicians such
as Oscar Petersen and
Manhattan Transfer.
