I OPEN SUNDAY 5 p.m TO 10 p.m. 29269 Southfield Road north of 12 Mile In The Southfield Commons 569-1400 He and Johnna "took a belated honeymoon to Florida. While we were there we saw an article about a 'galactic ar- tist,' Shawn Paris, with a one- man show." When the couple got back to Minneapolis, they called Paris. By coincidence, the artist had been looking for original music to feature in his perfor- mances. After hearing Little Green Men's tapes, Paris agreed to use the music in his show. Mr. Sklar uses his guitar- playing not just for music but also "as a form of physical meditation." He thinks that • he has a future with Little Green Men. "A lot of people comment that our compositions stimulate visual imagery — that they 'see' things in the music," he says. Those who see the group perform live are also treated to a special light-and- photo show — "galaxys col- liding, shots of earth from space" — that underlines the ensemble's dedication to its galactic themes. Little Green Men has been looking for an agent to get more concert dates and airplay, but Mr. Sklar says such material success comes second to the satisfaction of a job well done. "I don't expect wealth and major fame," he says, "but we'd like to make a decent living. We want to travel, play festivals, see the world, to take our music out there and see how people respond to it." ❑ ` M. Butterfly' At Fisher David Henry Hwang's Tony Award winning play M. But- terfly, will open at the Fisher Theatre for one week only April 16-21. An object lesson in the dangers of delusion, M. But- terfly is a story so bizarre it could only be true. Inspired by newspaper accounts of a 1960's French spy trial, it re- counts the tragic story of Rene Gallimard, a French diplomat who falls in love with a beautiful Chinese opera singer Song Liling. The trial reveals that Song Liling is a spy . . . and more. Set in Beijing and Paris against the backdrops of Viet- nam and Mao's cultural revolution, M. Butterfly ex- poses western imperialism, sexism and man's knack for self-delusion. Mr. Gallimard's racist and sexist fantasies so cloud his vision that he deludes himself about his lover's identity. For ticket information, call the Fisher box office, 645-6666.
