For Care-Givers

The Jewish Community
Center of Metropolitan
Detroit and Jewish Family
Service offer a networking op-
portunity for adults caring for
older family members 7-8:30
p.m. Wednesdays, starting
April 10 at the Maple-Drake
Jewish Community Center.
An eight session support
group, "Caring for Your Ag-
ing Loved One" will focus on:
understanding the aging pro-
cess; coping with feelings
such as helplessness, resent-
ment and guilt; legal, finan-
cial and health care issues;
and time management and
decision-making skills.
This group will combine
peer support experiences with
guest presentations by area
experts in the field of aging.
Norma Dorman, a social
worker from Jewish Family
Service, will facilitate the
group.
There is a registration fee.

The Senior Adult Depart-
ment of the Jewish Com-
munity Center will host
"Senior Showcase: Art From
a Mature Perspective," an ex-
hibition of art and perfor-
mances by artists 55 years
and older 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m.
April 28 at the Maple-Drake
Jewish Community Center.
This is a chance for
members of the community to
exhibit their artistic skills in
painting, sculpture and other
media. Performers will have
the opportunity to entertain
as part of the afternoon's
events. There also will be
demonstrations by artists in
the process of creating their
works.
