The Southfield Parks and
Recreation's Cultural Arts
will host the Eighth Wildlife
Exhibit through March 29.
The show is in conjunction
with the nationally renowned
Wildlife Art Festival.
The featured artist this
year will be Catherine
McClung along with Malcolm
Ramsey, the bird sculptor.
Catherine McClung grew
up in Toronto and came to the
U.S. as a teen-ager. She
taught school and took up
painting, with the emphasis
on nature — wildflowers and
songbirds, using watercolor
and wet on wet background
until a more detailed
foreground is achieved,
especially flowers and birds.
Her print was selected for the
cover of the Michigan Bird
Atlas published this year.
The show takes place in the
Civic Center Gallery. Hours
are 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Mon.-Fri.
and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Sat. For in-

Wildlife Exhibit
In Southfield

Overtures, the volunteer
group of younger metropoli-
tan Detroit professionals, will
host a brunch 1 p.m. March
17 at the Detroit Historical
Museum followed by a DSOH
concert at Orchestra Hall at
3:30 p.m.
The brunch will take place
on the streets of Old Detroit,
with seating in the DHM
display depicting late 19th
century Detroit.
Hugh Wolff will lead the
DSO in a program featuring
the music of the late Aaron
Copland. To commemorate
Copland's 90th birthday, the
concert will feature two of his
most popular works, Fanfare
for the Common Man and
Symphony No. 3. Spanish
pianist, Alicia de Larrocha,
will perform Beethoven's
Piano Concerto No. 3 in C
minor.
